I’m Jenna,

welcome to my practice.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 20 years of experience working with children, youth, and parents/co-parents. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Victoria.

Throughout my career, I have worked across non-profit, public, and private practice settings, supporting young people and families through a wide range of emotional, behavioural, relational, and life challenges. These diverse experiences have shaped a grounded, compassionate, and flexible approach to therapy.

My work is rooted in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, and I draw from extensive additional training including and not limited to play therapy, sand tray therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed practice, eating disorders, Child Parent Relationship Therapy, Lifespan Integration, performance coaching and connect parent group facilitator. I tailor therapy to each child, youth, and family, taking into account developmental needs, family dynamics, and individual strengths.

I work from an interpersonal process theory lens, meaning I view the therapeutic relationship as central to meaningful change. Feeling safe, understood, and securely connected within therapy is essential before working on deeper or more challenging issues. I believe that healing and growth happen through a strong therapeutic connection—one built on trust, collaboration, and respect—while also learning practical skills and new ways of understanding experiences and relationships.

I live in Squamish, BC with my husband and our three young children. We are an active family and spend much of our time outdoors—skiing, swimming, biking, and exploring nature together. For the past 16 years, my husband and I have competed at a high level in triathlon, which has strongly influenced my passion for working with performance athletes. I have had the opportunity to support young elite athletes in Squamish, and I have seen the powerful impact that mental performance skills can have on confidence, focus, and resilience—both in sport and in everyday life.

My desire to become a counsellor began in high school and was shaped by my own experience of working with a skilled and supportive counsellor during a challenging time in my life. Having a safe place to explore difficult experiences made a lasting impact on me and continues to guide how I show up for my clients.

I am deeply passionate about supporting children, youth, and families in my community and beyond. I created Basecamp Counselling because I see a growing need for meaningful, accessible support for young people and their parents. My goal is to use my experience, training, and genuine care to support, empower, and help clients and families build resilience, connection, and confidence as they navigate life’s challenges.
